I LOVE t-ball
...actually, no, I don't.
But I'm taking one for the team.
No question, a 5 year old in a baseball uniform wearing a helmet the size of a hybrid car is cuter than all the puppies in the world combined. Absolutely, it's a great sport for the kids to learn teamwork, get eye-hand/feet coordination, and have fun. And yes, I am loving the Kodak moments. But when my husband signed up to be an assistant coach, that automatically signed me up for this commitment. Let me tell you that running around getting to practice, games, photo shoots, I don't know - championship tournaments, with both kids and gear is not fun. I don't even get to watch the games cuz I'm making sure Owen's not getting into trouble. Sure I'm chatting with other parents but they are also watching the younger siblings of players.
Rob and Ethan are having great fun together. So if anyone asks, I will say through gritted teeth, "I love T-ball."

Isn't it amazing the things we will pretend to enjoy just to make our kids happy?

I live in fear of my children discovering that there is a sport called t-ball. Or worse yet, that all of their friends are playing it. TOGETHER. I hate - HATE - watching baseball. God forbid my children ever want to play it.
'Cause you all know I'll let them. No matter how much I hat -- HATE -- it.
(Did I mention I hate it?)
Ok, but yeah, Ethan looks darned cute.

Hmm, I will have to repost this as my own words.

See now, I love it. The whole kit n kaboodle. The cute uniforms (softballers wear shorts and a visor)to the cheers (they encourage the girls to cheer - what's up with that?) and everything else. Maybe you guys need to start bringing pie and wine to the games - that really helped last year.

That's good advice, Sharon. We've pondered the open container laws in this town. I think I'll bring "coffee" to the next game.

I think wine and pie would help just about anything. But, to give you a better understanding of the depth of my hatred for baseball/softball ...
When I went to a private elementary school for 5th-7th grades, we had to participate in one active activity each season.
In Fall it was soccer or cheering; so me? Soccer, natch.
In Winter it was basketball or cheering; I stink at hoops, but basketball it was (only girl on both teams, btw).
In Spring it was softball or cheering ... so me? Cheering. Cheering, for christ's sake. As much as I didn't want to cheer ... THAT's how much I hate the stickball variety of sports.

I know what you mean about hating certain sports, but watching isn't as bad as it sounds...if there is beer and hot dogs involved...but wait, I guess that's pro ball and not neighborhood T-ball...oh, nevermind.

I can't watch it either. Oh, I like me some beer and dogs, don't get me wrong, but I really spend the whole time people watching. I've been to a handful of Yankees and Mets games -- with GOOD seats -- and I never know what the hell is going on. Not for lack of understanding of the rules, but just from shear boredom. It's just too slow. And when I do try to watch and follow, I always lose the ball in the lights.

I love it. I don't love the schlepping. Or the pleading from the 3 year old to go to the playground, get a drink, have a snack...
But I love the sitting the watching and the talking. I would love the eating and drinking too but that means more to schlep.
